Teaching Personnel are recruiting in Scarborough! Are you a passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant looking for your next role?

Teaching Personnel is currently looking for an experienced SEMH specialist to work in a challenging but rewarding Secondary Alternative Provision in Scarborough. Teaching Personnel have contracts with other local Secondary provisions, who require additional support to work with students at risk of inclusion. The positions we have available are supporting both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

My client School specialise in working with pupils who are excluded from mainstream education, with some pupils with an EHCP in place. Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues are standard across the majority of students. The school creates a calm working environment with small class sizes of 4 pupils, to get the very best from their pupils when working towards their GCSE's.

  • The ideal Teaching Assistant will have Secondary experience and have a positive, supportive outlook
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills are required - graduates are encouraged to apply
  • As a dedicated SEMH specialist you will support the class teachers to obtain the very best out of the pupils who have extremely challenging behaviour
  • Teaching Personnel are looking for Teaching Assistants who can commit to Long Term work


The school is easily accessible by bus, train and has parking on site.

To join us and be successful for this post you must have

  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • A willingness to work with very challenging SEMH pupils
  • Experience working within secondary school settings is preferred however they will also consider graduates who are looking to start a career in education
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • Your CV must cover the last 6 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
  • You must have the legal right to work in the UK

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
