SEMH Teaching Assistant, Darwen

Teaching Personnel work closely with a Darwen based School which specifically caters for KS3/4 pupils with SEMH Difficulties, Autism, ADHD, ODD and pupils who display challenging behaviours. The School caters for approximately 60 pupils and they are all male, aged between 10 - 17 years of age. The School is based on the outskirts of Darwen, Lancashire and the role will be full time. The School cater for pupils who are no longer able to remain in mainstream education for a variety of reasons including; behaviour, mental health difficulties, learning difficulties or due to permanent exclusion.

The role will be full time and School hours are 8.40am - 3.15pm Monday - Friday, you MUST be available full time to be considered for this role and candidates who hold their Team Teach qualification will be favoured, but this is not essential. The role will be starting as soon as possible and it is due to continue until July. The role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant who has strong behaviour management skills and a passion for enriching the lives of pupils who are often harder to reach.

The candidate suited to this role will have experience supporting pupils with SEMH Difficulties and/or SEN, strong classroom management skills and be available 5 days a week in the Darwen area. The ideal candidate will be a car driver as the role may include some travel between the different school sites.

Part of this role will be working on a 1:1 basis with a KS3 pupil who is very challenging in his behaviour. You will be expected to provide support for this pupil at least 1 lesson per day but due to his need for a 'change of face' from lesson to lesson the rest of your timetable will be general classroom support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
