Teaching Assistant experienced with mental health required for education setting
- Full or Part time role available
- Positive and supportive working environment
- competitive pay rate
We are currently working with a specialist education provision situated within a psychiatric hospital, near to Southend. The Unit is an acute in-patient ward for young people aged 11 to 18 with mental-health conditions which prevent them from attending their local schools, colleges or employment. The Unit has 16 beds. The education team comprises four teachers, a cover supervisor and part time business support officer and teaching assistant. Alongside the principal focus of maintaining coursework requirements in core curricula areas, we strongly encourage involvement in expressive arts, music and physical activity. We work in partnership with doctors, nurses, a social worker, clinical psychologists and a family therapist on the unit and have significant partnerships for each pupil with education provision beyond the unit. The young people remain on the roll of their home school and are expected to re-integrate into that setting as discharge from the unit approaches.
We are looking for someone who can be flexible with the role they take on as they may be required to cover different aspects of support. The role will include acting as a teaching assistant primarily and may also include some cover supervisor responsibilities from time to time.
If you have experience with mental health and with education settings we would love to hear from you
