SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEMH - KS3)

Teaching Personnel are working on behalf of a large, popular, over subscribed Church of England Academy in Aigburth, Liverpool (L17) who are seeking to recruit a Specialist Teaching Assistant. The position will commence in September 2017, initially for the first term, with a view of it being extended for the rest of the academic year depending on funding.

The School:

An all boys Church of England Academy based in Aigburth, Liverpool (L17), recently graded as Good by Ofsted and Outstanding in the statutory inspection of Anglican schools. The school are consistently over subscribed with over 800 applications from across the region coming in in each year. In terms of achievement, the school is amongst the highest achieving in the region and the Headteacher leads the school effectively.

The Position:

The ideal candidate will have a background in Youth Support/services coupled with some classroom based experience ideally in a mainstream secondary school. You will be expected to provide 1:1 support to a Year 8 pupil with SEMH on a full-time basis from September. Responsibilities include:

- Chaperone around school both in and out of classroom

- Provide social and emotional support to the pupil

- Identify and de-escalate behavioural issues

- Help the pupil integrate safely into social situations

- Build positive relationships with the pupil

- Help build confidence and raise self esteem

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
