SEMH TA - SEN School - Bromley
A small school of 50 pupils, based in Bromley, is seeking support staff to work on a one-to-one intervention basis.
The pupils that have been referred to the school from mainstream schools all have some form of Social, Emotional, Mental Health and require additional support. This support comes in the form of one-to-one support, or what the school terms 'Positive Partner'. As a Positive Partner, you will accompany the child to their lessons, motivating them to participate in their classes and assist them with any tasks that prove difficult. You must have an engaging personality to encourage positive behaviour from the child throughout the day.
The head teacher is looking to take staff on immediately to avoid any disruptions to the pupils' learning. This position is long term, to go onto a permanent contract after 2 terms if things go well.
To be considered for the role you must have experience working with SEMH pupils, or pupils with very challenging behaviour. In rare circumstances the head teacher will consider those who do not have extensive experience working in schools but have the right, vibrant and engaging personality, a degree in a relevant filed (Child Studies, Social Work, Psychology, and Sports Science/Coaching) and eagerness to begin a career in the education sector.
Due to the unpredictability of the child's behaviour, it is common for the Support Staff / Positive Partner to be proactive with the pupils, which includes doing a lot of running around in the school so if you have a sporty background you are encouraged to apply.
To be put forward for the role a Child Workforce DBS, registered on the Update Service, is essential.
To apply for this position, please include in your application an updated CV and a brief description of your experience in Makaton and working with children. Alternatively, please call 02075933070 to speak to a consultant, quoting 'SEMH, Bromley'.
*Please note, due to the high volume of applications, only the most successful candidates will be contacted.
