We are currently looking for a Functional Skills Teacher, to help support students in a Pupil Referral Unit in Central Weymouth. Please see details below of the role.

The School

The School is a unique educational provision, providing a safe and supportive environment for young people aged between 11 and 16 years old. The school caters for young people who are finding mainstream education difficult and prides itself on recognising young people's emotions. Using detailed assessment packages and specific targeted work, they challenge and teach young people how to manage their emotions whilst maintaining academic progress. Issues can include inadequate social skills, self-awareness, motivation, self-regulation or empathy or any combination of these. This work helps the young people develop socially and emotionally to unlock their personal barriers to learning as well as life itself.

Key responsibilities as our Functional Skills Teacher will include:

- To deliver engaging, effective and innovative group training sessions to students

- To ensure that students work-skills are developed and that they are ready for working life by the time they leave Juniper

- To deliver Functional Skills qualifications

- Arrange and facilitate motivational visits/activities

- To conduct & use initial assessment effectively and set students appropriate, but challenging, targets & goals

- To conduct and document meaningful student reviews as per procedures

- Invigilate exams and mark functional skills exam papers as appropriate

- Excellent organisation skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
