Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for a talented Teaching Assistant to join one of our client schools in Durham. This role will be to support Class Teachers across the school with engaging/re-engaging pupils, ensuring excellent hehaviour expectations are met and support the children in their learning.

The school itself enjoys a positive reputation in the Durham area, with high levels of attainment, a positive progress 8 score and a 'Good' Ofsted rating. They have an excellent Support Staff structure in place, led by the SENCO, to ensure that all staff receive the attention they deserve. All support staff have a preplanned timetable that allows for preperation time as well as a level of flexibility depending on the needs of learners and staff alike.

The Role:

  • Commencing in September 2020 until at least Christmas, with the potential of going permanent
  • Working with classes across years 7-11
  • Mixture of 1:1 support as well as general classroom support
  • Help deliver lessons to smaller groups by being the lead learner, having their own autonomy

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of supporting children in a secondary education setting
  • Be a qualified Teaching Assistant to Level 2 at least
  • Experience communicating with Class Teachers to formulate plans supporting in specific areas
  • SEN knowledge to identify pupils who may need extra support
