This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

I am currently working with a large secondary SEN school near Sidcup, who are recruiting for a member of support staff. They cater for students with severe autism including those with associated challenging behaviour, as well as two classes for children with more complex and medical needs.

The school is looking for a floating TA to cover absence within the school. This means you will be working in different classes throughout the school on a daily basis. A typical class is made up of a class teacher, 8-10 students and 4 teaching assistants when the classroom is fully staffed. You will be directed by the class teacher to work with whichever students need support although you can be proactive and use your initiative where appropriate to support whichever students you think need it most.

You must:

  • Be available full time Monday - Friday from 09:00am to 15:30pm
  • Be able to travel to Sidcup for work
  • Have a child workforce DBS on the update service, or be willing to complete a new one asap
  • Have experience of working with children who have special needs, preferably including those with autism
  • Knowledge of PECS or Makaton is desirable but not essential
  • Be able to provide reference details for your two most recent employers

You will be working in an Ofsted rated 'good' school and will benefit from a purpose built SEN school building. The staff work alongside educational psychologists, speech and language therapists and regularly have training days, which you will be eligible to attend.

You will receive a daily pay rate between £60 and £75 per day, dependent on experience. On top of this there is a pension scheme available and we will pay a contribution for you.
