Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking experienced Science Technician to work in a Secondary school in the Valleys. Applicants must be reliable and meticulous with the ability to work alone and as part of a team under pressure. Previous experience as a School Science Technician is highly desirable but not essential - candidates without this experience should instead have a strong science background with skills that can be easily adapted to a School Laboratory/Classroom environment.

The positions offered will be short-term starting in February 2018 and run until Easter initially. The hours will be approximately 8:30am - 3.30pm.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with staff to discuss timetables, equipment requirements and work plans
  • Preparing equipment before lessons
  • Ensuring equipment is properly cleared away and stored correctly in line with School policies and health and safety guidelines
  • Supporting the work of teachers in classes and laboratories and giving technical advice to staff and students
  • Managing stock levels and ordering deliveries where necessary
  • Following instructions accurately

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
