Teaching Personnel are looking for a Science Teacher to join one of our secondary schools, OFSTED rated ‘Good’ and located in Wigan.

The school are seeking to appoint a teacher on a full-time basis with the view to joining them permanently later in the academic year.

The candidate chosen for the school must be highly knowledgeable in their subject and can engage pupils in their studies. The role includes planning, marking and delivering a full Science timetable across KS3 – KS4 in line with the current curriculum.

Teachers of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.

  • Full-time Science Teacher.
  • Post starting from September 2023.
  • Long term contract with the view to joining them permanently on a later date.
  • Pay in line with teacher pay scale.
  • Located in Wigan.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a UK recognised QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Have successful teaching experience at secondary level as a teacher or trainee.
  • Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning.
  • Understand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students.
  • Have knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4 level for Science, and of writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students' work.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain positive relationships with all staff.
  • Have a good level of ICT skills, ideally including innovative use of interactive white boards.
  • Be able to create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students and raise their aspirations through a range of strategies.
  • Be able to communicate positively, both written and verbally.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
