Full-time Science teacher required for a large mixed comprehensive secondary school in Wigan from September 2019. Due to a staffing re-structure, there is an open gap for a Science teacher to join their Science faculty in the new academic year. There is the opportunity for an earlier start date for the successful Science teacher.

Our client secondary school based in Wigan wish to appoint a Science teacher with experience delivering both Key Stage Three and GCSE Science from September 2019. This position will be offered on a temporary basis for the first term, with the view of securing a permanent role from January 2020.

Chemistry, Biology and Physics specialists are welcome to apply for this role, but experience teaching the Science curriculum to GCSE is essential.

  • Full-time Science teacher required, September 2019 start.
  • Employment on a temporary basis for one term with a permanent contract available later in the year (Performance dependant).
  • Pay in line with your direct pay scale (MPS/UPS - £23,720 - £39,406).
  • Teaching a complete Science timetable which will consist of complete planning and marking responsibilities.

To be considered for this full-time Science teaching role it is crucial that you are an enthusiastic Science teacher that is able to inspire learning amongst your pupils whilst still obtaining excellent results. You will be teaching classes of students that are split by ability and must be able to cater for the needs of each of your classes no matter what their ability, being able to stretch the learning of your pupils will be hugely advantageous.

The Science department within our client secondary school is currently made up from eight Science teachers and has two dedicated Learning Support Assistants. If successful you will be joining a well led Science department that regularly achieves excellent results at GCSE level.

  • Is slightly smaller than the average sized secondary school with around 700 pupils on roll.
  • Holds an excellent reputation within its local community.
  • Is located close to Leigh with and has excellent public transport links to surrounding areas within the Wigan LEA.
  • It is easily accessible from both the surrounding areas of Bolton and Wigan respectively via the A579.
