Teaching Personnel are working closely with a school near Truro, who are looking for a full time Science Teacher to work within their schools on a long term basis. The role is to start in October and will lead to a permanent position for the right person.

Our purpose-built school is specially designed to provide the optimum environment for learning and to best support young people with autism (ASC) who also face other challenges such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and attachment disorder (AD) along with children affected by social, emotional and mental health difficulties. All of our children have Educational Health Care plans (EHCP).

Job title: Science Teacher

Reporting to: Senior Leader

The teacher will:

· Have qualified teacher status and experience of teaching science across key stage 2/3/4

· Follow all school policies and procedures to safeguard children

· To strive towards working in partnership to develop an outstanding school for vulnerable learners

· To motivate individual children for learning and life

· To ensure you are working in partnership with the Key Stage Leader towards School Improvement and the journey to outstanding.

· Take a lead role in school development and chair working parties, as well as being an active member

· Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices and procedures, so as to support the school’s values and vision

· Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school

· Work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure co-ordinated outcomes

· Provide cover, in the unforeseen circumstance that another teacher is unable to teach

· Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils

· Maintain good order and discipline among pupils, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment inside and outside school

· Attend TEAM TEACH training

· To keep children, safe during social interaction activities (break, lunch and breakfast times)

· Collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school

· Develop effective professional relationships with colleagues

· Take a professional role in meeting (staff, pupil progress, working party, departmental)

· Take part in the school’s appraisal procedures

· Take part in school development training and actively change practice to support school improvement

· Be an active member of a working party focused on outcomes for children

· Where appropriate, take part in the appraisal and professional development of others

· Take part and up skill (if necessary) in autism practice

· Communicate effectively with pupils, parents and carers

· Communicate in a way that best supports the learning of students with autism/SEMH

· Uphold public trust in the profession and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
