Teaching Personnel are now working with schools across Greater Manchester, in looking ahead to the new academic year. With no date set for when schools are going to return, it is unquestionable that these are uncertain times. However, there is no doubt that schools will have a need for new teachers to join their teams come September. A school in Stockport is looking for a highly motivated Science teacher to join the teaching staff on a temporary basis.

It is expected that the applicant:

  • Holds QTS (or an equivalent qualification)
  • Holds a degree (in a Science related subject)
  • Can effectively deliver school curriculum, across KS3 - 5.
  • A-Level teaching experience is essential.

The school is eager to find an applicant who is able to keep pupils engaged within the classroom, and can offer a unique approach when it comes to the delivery of Science lessons. It is also expected that the required applicant will be able to:

  • Be part of the teaching staff, who are constantly looking to strive to improve both the department, as well as the school as a whole. 
  • Display versatility across the teaching of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as being able to alternative provision for those who have difficulty with Science as a subject.
  • Help manage the day to day running of a school lab, ensuring that there are high standards maintained with regards to health, safety and general cleanliness.
  • Ensuring that every student is aware of the school policy when undertaking practical based work.
  • Consider the importance of OFSTED recommendations on the school’s overall improvement and progress.
  • Closely monitor individual attainment, whilst also being able to offer feedback to parents/students and subject leaders whenever necessary.
  • Have an awareness of the complexities often associated with Science as a subject, and be able to simplify the learning process to ensure that every child is able to maximise their overall ability within the subject.
  • Monitor behaviour expectations, and be able to also closely observe key day to day factors, such as attendance, in-class testing, examination preparation, as well as the preparation of suitable educational material/resources.
  • Be able to consider alternative provision for those students who require additional support within the subject.

PAY: GBP24,373 - GBP40,90 per year, based on previous experience. 

The school’s location:

  • Based in Stockport, the school is located very close to the city centre, with several amenities located in exceptionally close proximity of the school
  • There are several public transport links within close proximity of the school itself, as well multiple motorway links also located close by.
