10 minutes directly out of Manchester City Centre, with multiple links via Metrolink and bus, we have a Learning Support Assistant role at a Central Manchester school.

The school firmly believe that each student should be given equality of opportunity to achieve their full potential – spiritually, academically and socially – by recognising the uniqueness of each individual and focusing on achieving the best possible outcomes.

Each student, regardless of ability, is entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum which is relevant to their educational needs. The curriculum offered should give all students a sense of achievement and thereby help them develop.

You will be asked to foster an atmosphere in which SEN students feel valued and can develop a sense of confidence, self-worth and achievement. You will be expected to maintain up to date knowledge of current SEN good practice and methodology in order to offer support and training in these areas.

You will need to aid 7% of the 1650 students require support in four types of Special Educational Needs:

  1. Communication and interaction
  2. Cognition and learning
  3. Social, mental and emotional health difficulties
  4. Sensory and/or physical needs

The school aim to ensure that:

  • Students with learning difficulties are able to access a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum as part of the whole school community.
  • Students with SEN are educated, wherever possible, in an inclusive environment alongside their peers to enable each student to reach her full potential.
  • They match levels of additional support for learning to the wide variety of individual
  • learning difficulties, while enhancing self-esteem.
  • They identify and assess students with SEN as early and as thoroughly as possible
  • They meet the needs of all students with SEN by offering appropriate and flexible forms of educational provision, by the most efficient use of all available resources.

This is role runs from February 2023 to July 2023, while it is temporary there is the possibility of a permanent position after the initial introduction from Teaching Personnel. Pay varies from £350-£400 a week depending on where you stand on the pay scale.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
