Science Cover Teacher – Newport, South Wales

Location: Secondary School, Newport (easily accessible from Cardiff via A48/M4 or public transport)
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Full Term
Pay: £172.98 per week

Key Responsibilities

As a Science Cover Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Plan creative lessons that align with curriculum requirements and support student progress
  • Supervise practical experiments safely, ensuring health and safety protocols are followed
  • Maintain classroom discipline and foster a purposeful learning environment
  • Adapt quickly to different Science topics, classes, and ability levels, ensuring continuity of learning
  • Work collaboratively with the Science department and support departmental initiatives
  • Participate enthusiastically in extracurricular and enrichment activities related to STEM

Required Qualifications & Experience

To be considered, you must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Enhanced DBS certificate and EWC registration (Teaching Personnel can assist)
  • At least two relevant professional references
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Confidence teaching Science to KS3 and KS4 students
