Do you have the ability to challenge and motivate pupils, acting as a role model and mentor? Are you looking to transition from a Residential Support Worker to a Learning Mentor? A Secondary Pupil Referral Unit in Bury are seeking to hire a full time Residential Support Worker for an immediate start to work within their school. The successful applicant, working as a behaviour mentor, will work along side young people who have been excluded from mainstream education and as a result require 1:1 personalised support. The former residential support worker will work closely with the young people in an effort to enhance social, emotional and academic development.
The successful former Residential Support Worker will work with pupils who are achieving below a mainstream schools expectation, mainly for low attendance and behaviour. Pupils may be at risk of exclusion, or have been temporarily been excluded already. The role of behaviour mentor will be working alongside key school staff to reduce levels of unauthorised absence and improve attendance and behaviour. 'Our staff build productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model'.
The school (PRU) caters for secondary aged children aged 11-16 who struggle to access education due to their learning needs. The learning mentor post will enable the former Residential Support Worker to devise structured and agreed learning activities/programmes, both on a 1-2-1 and small group basis, taking into consideration pupil learning styles.

To be considered for the Behaviour mentor position you will ideally be/have;
- Be a former residential support worker
- Prior experience working with Special Educational Needs
- Experience supporting or assisting children with behaviour aged 11-16
- The ability to develop good relationships with pupils
- Safeguarding knowledge or training , level 1 or above
