One of our 'GREEN' schools located in the St Mellons area is looking to recruit a Psychology Graduate for small group and one-to-one intervention & support. The school's restructuring and recent statements which have come through for children with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties have enabled the school to grow their team and therefore offers a recent Graduate the opportunity to start or expand their career in Education.

The School :

Located in St Mellons area of Cardiff, the school is a lovely one form entry family school. The low turnover of staff at the school highlights the well-being and experience that the school prides itself in. From teaching assistants to SLT members, everyone works very effectively together and in a very fun and supportive atmosphere. It is necessary for the ideal candidate to work well within a team.

The Candidate :

You must be a recent Psychology Graduate and ideally have experience working within Education and/or with Children in general. Experience working with individuals and/or groups with Special Educational Needs is preferred and recommended however not compulsory. You must be willing to build a career in Education or Child Psychology and must be motivated to learn and develop your skills. Based on the general environment, the school are looking for someone with a friendly personality, a good sense of humour, a patient nature and be hard working.

The Role :

You will be working in a full time long term role (starting October half term) with a strong opportunity to become permanent. You must be available to interview and/or trial before on a short notice. The role will essentially involve providing educational and emotional support to children with additional needs on a one-to-one or small group basis. You will be willing to help children from Reception to Year 6 throughout the school. Occasionally, the Headteacher may require you to help teachers with certain classes and year groups on a general basis.

Applicants must :

- Have the legal right to work in the UK
- Hold a Child Workforce Only DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one - full assistance provided)
- Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (compulsory requirement in Wales) - please note that if you are living in England, you can still register with the EWC which will give you the opportunity to work on both sides of the border
- Provide at least two professional or character references
- Be available to interview and/or trial asap
- Be available to start on short notice
- Be living in Cardiff and/or have plans to move to Cardiff in the near future and/or be willing to travel to Cardiff

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
