Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is working closely with a behaviour school / Pupil Referral Unit in Croydon that is looking for 4 SEMH experienced Teaching Assistants /Behaviour Support staff, to start immediately. The school supports approximately 10 classes of 6-8 pupils that are very vulnerable and often display challenging behaviour. You will work closely with your colleagues to produce tailored action plans for students across Key Stages 1,2,3 and 4 taking an active role in implementing a specialised and tailored programme that positively encourages learners to overcome educational and social barriers, improve their skills and ultimately gain recognised qualifications.

This role is full time, from 8:30am – 4pm, Monday to Friday. You must be available immediately and have a DBS on the update service to be considered (please call us to find out more on how you can apply for a Child Workforce DBS).

As a Teaching Assistant /Behaviour Support, you will have strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate with families, carers and a multidisciplinary team of teaching staff, social workers and educational psychologists. You will be organised, patient and confident, with a comprehensive understanding of the key issues currently affecting the young people.

• Working knowledge of meeting the emotional, social and mental health of young people.
• Degree in Child studies, Psychology, Youth Work, Sports Science, Art and Design and Music
• Desire to take a supporting role in alternative education setting.
