Our client schools in Stockport are looking for graduates to fill Teaching Assistant roles on a full-time basis. The role will run for the entire academic year and has the earning potential of £11.83 - £14 per hour.

Our client is looking for someone with passion and a strong drive to help young people achieve their potential. Our client school is always looking to improve and raise the bar for what their pupils can achieve. The school feels strongly about their students growing into tolerant and respectful members of their community. Ideal candidates for the role:

  • Experienced support staff looking for a change of scenery supporting students across KS3 and KS4.
  • Graduates with degrees that would help support students. (Maths, English, Psychology etc.)
  • Sports coaches who have worked with young people and have the transferrable skills to keep them engaged.
  • Healthcare workers who have experience supporting adults or children with additional needs.

A key aspect of your new role will be to support Year 7 students who may be struggling to adapt to new secondary school life. It will be your responsibility to give advice and be a good listener for them to discuss problems they may not want to with anyone else, interpersonal skills are vital in this role as sometimes you may have to connect with students whose first language is not English.

Our client school’s SEN support is an important aspect of the role of a Teaching Assistant, the additional needs you will be supporting could be a wide range of things such as visual impairment, ADHD or students who communicate through sign language. All relevant training will be provided so you can provide the best support possible. There are also a variety of CPD courses at your disposal via Teaching Personnel and internally within the school.

Roles and responsibilities in your new role:

  • Support pupils with SEN, ensuring they always have the appropriate work set. You will provide 1:1 and small group interventions outside of the classroom
  • Work with students whose first language is not English, strong communication skills are of vital importance to build a rapport with these students
  • Participate in regular CPD courses to improve as a Teaching Assistant and take on more responsibility
  • Differentiate learning to ensure every student gets the most from your sessions
  • Always uphold school standards and policies, especially those surrounding behaviour and bullying

The area benefits from being easy to access via the motorway with most schools having secure onsite parking, there are various train stations and bus routes in the vicinity of the sites with regular services running in and around the City Centre.

To be considered for the role you will need a fully enhanced DBS on the update service, which you can apply for through Teaching Personnel, two references will also be required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
