Primary Behaviour Support Assistant – Doncaster

Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Primary Behaviour Support Assistant to join one of our partner primary schools in Doncaster. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them to re-engage positively with learning and school life.


The Role

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs across the primary age range.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils, implementing tailored behaviour strategies in line with individual support plans.

  • Working collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to promote a consistent and nurturing approach to behaviour management.

  • Supporting pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence within the classroom and during unstructured times.

  • Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm and inclusive learning environment.

  • Contributing to the wider school community by modelling patience, empathy, and professionalism at all times.


About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have prior experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional, or mental health needs (experience in education, youth work, or care settings is advantageous).

  • Demonstrate a calm, patient, and consistent approach when supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviours.

  • Be confident in implementing positive behaviour interventions and restorative practices.

  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues.

  • Hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS certificate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
