PMLD Teaching Assistant - Tameside

A Special School situated in Tameside are currently looking to recruit multiple full time PMLD Teaching Assistant for a January 2019. This position is a full time and permanent position it so would be ideal for Teaching Assistants who are looking for an opportunity to progress in a career in education. In order to apply for this position experience in a school or care home would be preferred; however the Head Teacher also welcomes applications from individuals with personal experience working with children or adults with severe learning difficulties.

This particular Setting is a Secondary Special School which is based in Dukinfield, Tameside. The Setting caters for pupils with a wide range of needs including: Profound Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and significant interaction or communication difficulties. In its most recent 2016 inspection the School was graded as 'Outstanding' by OFSTED. Due to the specific needs of the pupils the Teaching Assistant should have an understanding of how to cater for young people with various needs.

This particular role will involve working directly with pupils who have PMLD so applications from teaching assistants who have experience of: operating a hoist, training in moving and handling and significant experience working with children or adults who have PMLD would be favourable.

The ideal PMLD Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience working with individuals with SEN in any capacity
  • Experience working within a Care or Residential Sector
  • Experience working within a School environment (desirable)
  • Moving and handling training and experience operating a hoist (desirable)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
