A school based in Bracknell are looking for a teaching assistant to join their school for children aged between 2 and 19 years of age with a wide range of learning difficulties. The school meet the needs of children with severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Skills and abilities required:
• Problem solving
• Understanding of the role to assist and supervise pupils on particular tasks and the expected outcome of individual activities within the allocated timescale
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work within a team working environment and also able to work independently
Personal qualities required:
• Calm under pressure, adaptable and energetic
• A caring and positive attitude
• A good listener and sensitivity to pupils needs
• A sense of responsibility
Main tasks and responsibilities:
• Support learning for individual pupils and small groups under the guidance of the teacher and assist with the implementation of lesson plans and facilitate more ambitious learning activities
• Enable pupils to become independent learners within their own ability and provide positive support under the direction of the teacher motivating and encouraging pupils whilst establishing a supportive relationship
• Clarifying and explaining instructions, assisting in such areas as language, behaviour, reading, spelling, handwriting, listening and presentation
