PMLD Experienced Teaching Assistant Needed

We are currently recruiting for a large, dynamic, forward looking school, with the aim of helping to shape best practice for pupils with complex needs here at Teaching Personnel. The school caters for 209 pupils with severe, profound and complex needs including autism. The last Ofsted inspection report judged the school to be good with outstanding features.

The School are looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to work in the KS1 sector of the school. All applicants must have recent experience working with children with special educational needs, in either a Primary, Secondary school or specialist SEN environment.

Personal care (feeding and changing) are component parts of the job, but you would not be expected to do this without being given on the job training on the schools best practice procedures.
The classes consists of roughly five pupils with a broad range of learning and medical needs, all of whom are wheelchair bound. You would be working alongside very experienced learning support assistants who are very supportive, friendly and hardworking.

The ideal candidate would have:

• A proven record of working with SEN students with a range of needs
• A good understanding of P levels
• Have a basic understanding of PECS and Makaton

This DBS must be a child workforce DBS registered onto the update service.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
