Are you a Physical Education (PE) specialist wishing to pursue a career in teaching in the future? Do you have experience working with children and young people in an educational or coaching capacity?

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a PE Teaching Assistant for an Ofsted graded 'Good' Secondary school in Wigan ahead of September 2018. This full time temporary position will include delivering PE lessons as well as other curriculum subjects in the absence of members of staff.

This position has arisen due to additional funding within the schools support department, and will initially be offered on a temporary basis;

  • PE Teaching Assistant - September 2018 start
  • Expect to earn up to £1200 per month. *Experience dependent
  • Experience working children and young people is essential for this position.
  • Initially offered for one term, potential of an extension
  • Working within an supportive school - graded 'Good' by Ofsted

As a Physical Education teaching assistant you will be required to lead full classes, follow lesson plans and implement excellent behaviour management. Applicants are required to hold previous experience working within education and will be available full time ideally to work at the school on a daily basis. Flexible part time work is also available dependant on your availability.

During quieter periods within the PE department, you will have the opportunity to cover other lessons across the curriculum with pre-set work, fully developing your classroom presence and preparing you for a teacher training course in the future.

The Head of Department is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised individual and is looking to meet with candidates prior to the new school year in September.

The school is larger than the average Secondary school with approximately 1300 pupils currently on roll. This is a school where behaviour is good and students feel safe at school. The school is located on the outskirts of Wigan bordering Salford which makes for easy access from surrounding areas; St Helens, Warrington, Leigh and Chorley.
