Phonics Intervention Teaching Assistant - Blackburn Primary School

  • Experience planning, delivering and assessing Phonics across EYFS and KS1 is highly sought after.
  • Ability to lead Phonics interventions to small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
  • Sound knowledge of Phonics including the Letters & Sounds Scheme of work.

Teaching personnel have been approached by a high volume of schools in East Lancashire in order to source experienced teaching assistants to deliver planned intervention/booster sessions. The schools have commented that the children within EYFS, KS1 and KS2 are benefiting from specialist Intervention Support that has been put in place. Specifically, a using school within Blackburn, are hoping to source a teaching assistant to work within EYFS and KS1. The successful candidate will be required to provide 1:1 and small group Phonics booster session for EYFS and Key Stage 1 pupils in preparation for the Phonics screening.

The position is to start in October 2019 and run until the end of the academic year. The school have said they are flexible and would be able be able to provide the intervention position on a full time or part basis. The school are looking for an individual who is comfortable across EYFS and KS1.

Job Type: Full time/Part time

Salary: £9.50 - £11.50 per hour

Start date: Monday 28th October 2019

End date: Friday 17th July 2020

Requirements for the role:

  • CACHE Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum grade C in English & Maths at GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Experience using Letters and Sounds, Jolly Phonics or Read Write Inc. Phonics schemes
  • Experience supporting children within EYFS and Key Stage 1
