Personal Care TA

Do you have a background in care and love working with children no matter what their background and abilities?

Teaching Personnel are recruiting carers to work in Special Schools in Cwmbran, Cardiff, Caerphilly and he Vale of Glamorgan that cater to primary and secondary pupils with physical disabilities and profound and multiple special educational needs. Children at these schools blossom in a calm and nurturing environment, where their specific needs and achievement are put first.

Carers will be responsible for the intimate needs of children, on a 1:1 and/or group basis, particularly physical needs. Your support will be invaluable to ensuring that children can safely receive the education they deserve with dignity and enjoyment.

We are looking for:

• A calm & kind, but proactive & resourceful attitude
• A sense of humour
• A love of interacting with children of all abilities and circumstances
• An understanding of safeguarding principles
• Experience of working with children or significant positive experience with children from volunteering or your personal life

Understanding of specific learning, physical, emotional, behavioural needs are beneficial (particularly across the Autism Spectrum) but what are essential are an open mind and the willingness to learn about a child's unique needs.

Previous experience in a similar role and/or an NVQ Level 2 or above in Care are highly desirable but we welcome candidates with diverse and positive experiences of care work from their professional or personal life. This could be (but isn't limited to!):

• 1:1 or group learning support or care experience for SEN children or adults, particularly those with physical disabilities or profound or complex needs
• Care home work or care work with the elderly
• Caring for a family member with specific physical, mental, emotional, learning or behavioural needs
• Manual handling experience is a huge bonus but we will offer training to the right candidate
