Peripatetic Teaching Assistants - Oldham

Job description

Teaching Personnel work with a number of provisions throughout Oldham who are currently looking to appoint a number of peripatetic Teaching Assistants who are looking to gain experience in specialist settings. Due to the demands of the role Teaching Assistants will be required to drive and have access to their own vehicle.

I am looking for candidates who can work mainly with young people aged between 11-16 years. Most of the pupils you will be working with display challenging behaviours and have been diagnosed with needs associated to their Social, Emotional and Mental Health. Due to the nature of the needs of the young people you will be working with you should ideally have personal or professional experience working with pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour.

In addition you:

  • Must be an excellent communicator - both written and verbally
  • Have active listening skills
  • Be socially aware of the socio-economic situation of the area and how this may affect the young people you work with
  • Be equipped with excellent interpersonal skills and be able to show compassion, positivity and patience
  • Be extremely organised
  • You must be available for work 5 days a week - Monday to Friday (8.30 - 3.30pm)
  • Have a DBS that is Child Workforce only and be registered on the Update Service
