PE Teaching Assistant

Job description

Due to a long term injury cover, our client secondary in Barnsley are looking for a full time Sports Coach to deliver multi-sports sessions to their secondary cohort.

  • Full time, Monday-Friday
  • Deliver your own planned sports sessions to students aged 11-16 during school day
  • Excellent sporting facilities in state of the art secondary school
  • Ideal opportunity for a sports graduate considering a career as a PE teacher

This position would be ideal for a recent graduate of Sports who has aspirations of progressing in to a career in education, as a PE teacher or similar. The position is initially being advertised as a full time position with the successful applicant undertaking work on Monday-Friday. This would be a perfect opportunity to refine your skillset in sports, along with learning new skills and gaining confidence in a completely different setting.

Whilst working as a sports coach, you will hold the responsibility for;

  • Delivering games and athletic sessions to Key Stage 3 and 4 students
  • Supporting practical GCSE lessons alongside qualified PE teachers
  • Ensure strict health and safety guidelines are adhered to maintain student safety
  • Encourage pupil participation during physical activity and promote a healthy lifestyle
