Position: Pastoral Support TA

Location: Stockport

Hours: Monday-Friday (8:30am-3:30pm)

Contract type: Temporary (for 13 week period and then if get on well, school will offer permanent contract)

Pay: GBP67 per day. Salary is dependent and can vary depending upon experience, training, and qualifications

Contract start: September 2021

The role

Your role as a Pastoral Support TA will involve working on a 1:1 and small group basis with children and young people (aged 11-16) with SEMH needs and significant communication and interaction difficulties.

The successfully appointed Pastoral Support Worker will work directly with children who require emotional and mental support, so it would be ideal if applicants have experience in similar roles.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • To provide high quality pastoral support for all students
  • To support and guide students in their personal development
  • To help reduce social and emotional barriers to learning
  • To liaise with parents, carers, staff and other stakeholders where appropriate

The school

The school is an independent SEMH school located in Reddish, Stockport (SK5). The aim of the school is to ensure that students succeed academically, personally, and socially. They achieve this aim through forging positive relationships, building self-esteem, and a therapeutic approach to helping students. The school are committed to developing staff and assisting them in obtaining new skills and offering a range of professional development opportunities

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications (TA or residential care related are highly recommended)
  • Relevant experience working with young people (e.g. Care Worker, Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker)
  • A commitment to working with young people with special educational needs
  • Experience working within a SEND environment (desirable)
  • A high level of self-motivation and resilience
