Job description

A Pupil Referral Unit in Scisset, Huddersfield (HD8) are currently looking to hire a Pastoral Care Worker to help create a nurturing, supportive learning environment for it's students. The school is a Pupil Referral Unit that caters to children from Key Stage 1-4 who have been excluded from mainstream education.

The role is full time and you will be supporting vulnerable students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Some of these students might have Special Educational Needs such as Autism and will have an EHCP statement. The students tend to display challenging behaviours and come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

You will be responsible for helping to make the transition from mainstream to the PRU setting as seamless as possible as well as helping to assess the pupil needs, protect the students, undertake activities with individuals or small groups and supporting and liaising with staff, guardians, health professionals and the SLT to ensure the welfare of the students.

The right candidate will:

  • Have a basic understanding of Safe Guarding children procedures
  • Have general SEN knowledge
  • Be resilient to challenging behaviour

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
