Job description

Teaching Personnel work very closely with Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth County Council to provide 1:1 tuition to pupils all over the county. The majority of the time these pupils are not in education or if they are it is only part time, therefore the tuition takes place during the school day.

The tuition is normally can be anything from 1 hour a week to 3 hours a day every day, this can fit in with teachers that need the flexibility. We have all types of candidates whether it be retired teacher, teachers with children that need to do school runs, ones that want a break from classroom teaching etc. The times tend to be between 9-3 however some sessions are after school and in the evening.

Pupils may need tuition for a variety of reasons including:

  • Behavioural difficulties so been excluded and waiting for school placement
  • Emotional needs including school phobia or anxiety
  • Medical needs where they are in and out of hospital
  • Relocation so waiting for a school placement
  • Improved in grades or working towards an exam

The majority of the tuition is in the core subjects Maths, English and Science so it is beneficial for tutors to be confident in tutoring pupils in all of these subjects. We get tuition come up from Year 1 pupils all the way to college pupils so we are looking for both primary and secondary specialists.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
