Part time Reception Teacher (Cardiff CF5)

One of Cardiff's most popular and increasingly successful schools is looking to appoint a Reception Teacher / Foundation Phase Teacher on a part time basis to start January 2019. Experienced and newly qualified teachers welcome to apply.

About the Role

  • Part time Reception Teacher (flexible on days worked, ideally 2 or 3) to cover the PPA time
  • January 2019 start until Easter at least, with the opportunity to continue afterwards
  • The teacher will be partnered with a member of the SLT for support (Foundation Phase leader)
  • Open to both newly qualified and experienced teachers
  • Very supportive school with multiple behaviour management techniques implemented which have all proven to be highly successful
  • Competitive daily rate starting from £95 (for NQTs)
  • Role paid to scale after 12 working weeks in the position

About the School

  • Two form entry primary school
  • Removed from the list of schools under Special Measures in November 2017 with very significant progress ever since
  • Children's behaviour can be challenging however managed very efficiently
  • Extended school provision including breakfast and after-school clubs as well as holiday care
  • Excellent reputation within the community and very popular with parents
  • Strong supportive leadership team constantly organising additional training, twilight sessions (suggested but not compulsory), etc.
  • Located in Ely within walking distance to the nearest train station and bus stops; large on-site parking is also available for staff

In order to be considered for this role, applicants will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Education with QTS (Primary trained), Bachelor's Degree with a Primary PGCE or equivalent overseas teaching degree with a British QTS
  • Proven experience teaching the British curriculum or equivalent (International school overseas or the curriculum in a Commonwealth and/or English speaking country)
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • Hold a Child Workforce only DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one - full assistance provided)
  • Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (compulsory requirement in Wales - full assistance provided) - please note that if you are living in England, you can still register with the EWC which will give you the opportunity to work on both sides of the border
  • Provide at least two professional references
  • Be available to interview and/or trial asap
  • Be available to start on short notice
  • Be living in Cardiff and/or have plans to move to Cardiff in the near future and/or be willing to travel to Cardiff
