Position: Teaching Assistant
Class: Nursery
Pay: GBP10 per hour inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay. Teaching Personnel will contribute to National Insurance and Pension contributions

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a fluent welsh speaking Teaching Assistant to work in a Nursery Class in an inclusive, happy, caring and successful welsh medium Primary School in the Merthyr Tydfil area. The headteacher has high expectations and a clear vision that is based on developing the school as an educational, stimulating, supportive and challenging environment for pupils.
The school
The Primary School is located in the Merthyr Tydfil local authority. Welsh is the main medium of the school’s life and work, and English is introduced as a subject in key stage 2. There are 265 pupils between 3 and 11 years old on roll, including 38 full-time nursery-age children and another six who attend on a part-time basis. Pupils are divided between 10 classes, one of which is a mixed-age class. Approximately 16% of pupils are eligible for free school meals. This is lower than the national percentage (19%). Approximately 23% of pupils speak Welsh at home and very few are from ethnic minority backgrounds. The school has identified just under 10% of its pupils as having additional learning needs.
Vetting
The successful candidate will need to be fully vetted for this role prior to start date. This includes registering with the Education Workforce Council as a School Learning Support Worker and having a CHILD ONLY enhanced DBS. Teaching Personnel can support you in obtaining these documents. In addition, Teaching Personnel will need to approach two professional references within the last 6 years.
