Numeracy Teaching Assistant- Tameside
Teaching Personnel have been approached by our partner secondary school located in Tameside to recruit for a Numeracy Teaching Assistant to compliment the existing staff within the Maths department. This full time Numeracy Teaching Assistant position is required to start from September 2018 and represent a unique opportunity for someone to solely focus on improving numeracy at the school:
- Numeracy Teaching Assistant
- Working within the Maths department to specifically focus on raising attainment in numeracy with Years 7 & 8.
- Secondary school located in Tameside with excellent transport links to the surrounding areas of Manchester and Cheshire.

The role-
Due to the strategic focus of the Senior Leadership team to raise the standards of Maths teaching within the school, they are looking to add a Numeracy Teaching Assistant to join them in the new term. This position will initially be on a temporary basis for the first term. However, there is the potential of a fixed-term contract thereafter.
Working under the direction of the Head of Maths and Head of Year 7, the incoming Numeracy Teaching Assistant will specifically focus on supporting identified pupils in in Years 7 & 8 to 'bridge' any achievement gaps. This will include providing interventions with small groups to ensure the transition from Primary to Secondary education. The Senior Leadership team are specifically seeking an experienced Numeracy Teaching Assistant who is able to display patience and empathy to low achieving pupils whilst also motivating them to engage with their studies.
The school-
The school is smaller than the average size within the local area with just over 700 pupils on roll. The large percentage of pupils who attend the school are from White British backgrounds. At present, the school have a higher than average proportion of pupils who require the pupil premium funding.
It is located within Tameside making it only a short drive away from the surrounding areas of Ashton-under-Lyne, Dukinfield and Stalybridge. It is also easily accessible to the areas of Hadfield and Glossop via the A57 and A6018. There are also direct bus links to the school from Ashton-under-Lyne.
