Working with a partner Primary School in Kensington & Chelsea Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Newly Qualified Teacher to start in September 2020. The school has a highly inclusive and multi-cultural environment in a setting with a lot of history. The school was actually designed on the theme of ships with masts and portholes to reflect the history of merchant ships in the area. The school is a stones throw from the Natural History Museum and the closest underground station is South Kensington (District, Piccadilly and Circle Lines).

The school has close links to the local community including a partnership with a successful nearby secondary. There is a large development site nearby the school which will become a hub of education, research and innovation centres from early next year with the first stage just completed. As part of this, the school is opening a new school within the development and becoming a mutli-academy trust to support this. The school has high hopes this large investment in the local area will really allow the local community to flourish.

The school is a multi-cultural inclusive school which promotes a safe, caring and challenging creative environment. The school has high standards and expectations and was rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ at its most recent inspection (June 2015). The school believes children learn and develop best when the opportunities they are exposed to are creative, motivating and challenging.  The school curriculum is rich in music, art, drama and dance and they also provide swimming, gymnastics and many sports and dance school clubs.

The school is committed to environmental initiatives and healthy living with many opportunities relating to this. They make good use of the school grounds with a wildlife garden, chickens and a pond. Children contribute to the environmental efforts of the school by recycling, composting and planting vegetables.

Pupils take a lot of pride in the school and behave very well in lessons and around the school. The headteacher leads the school with great enthusiasm to offer the best opportunities for pupils at their school. As a result of work from leaders and governors, teaching quality is improved through teamwork, nurture and support allowing new teachers to thrive in the school and become highly successful over time.

When asked by the Ofsted inspector what they like about the school, a student commented ‘I like it all, it’s brilliant!”. If that sounds like the sort of environment you want to kick-start your career in, the school are looking to interview on a rolling basis over the next few weeks. Shortlisting criteria include:

  • Good references from your most recent school/teacher training placements
  • PGCE, BA with QTS or SCITT qualification
  • A good team player able to establish good relationship with staff, students, parents, Governors and all others who have contact with the school
  • An interest in art, drama, dance or music would be a plus!

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
