MLD Teaching Assistant required- after Easter start

Job description

A Full time position for a teaching assistant commencing after Easter. The position is initially temporary and runs until the end of the academic year, however there are also permanent positions available at this Setting so teaching assistants seeking permanent roles should apply.

Teaching personnel are currently working on behalf of an 'outstanding' special school in Tameside. The school is a secondary school which currently has 75 pupils enrolled. The setting caters for pupils with a wide range of needs including: moderate, severe or profound multiple learning difficulties. In its most recent 2016 inspection the school was graded as outstanding by OFSTED. Due to the specific needs of the pupils the ideal teaching assistant will have an understanding of how to cater for children with SEN.

The role will involve working in collaboration a qualified teachers and school support staff to support the holistic development of pupils with SEN. The ideal teaching assistant will have experience of working within individuals with SEN in any capacity. We would welcome applications from less experienced individuals who can demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting the optimal development of pupils with SEN.

The ideal teaching assistant will have:

  • Experience working with pupils with SEN
  • Desirably Team-Teach trained (can be provided)
  • Experience working within a special needs setting
  • Experience delivering interventions designed to encourage the optimal development of pupils with SEN

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
