Behaviour Specialist - Maths Teacher £100.00 - £130.00 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications 35 hours per week Basingstoke

Are you a fully qualified teacher?

Do you have experience working with challenging behaviour?

Have you previously taught in a specialist SEN or SEMH provision? Or are you interested in teaching in this type of provision?

Fully qualified Maths ICT Teacher needed in a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit based in Basingstoke. This school caters for male and female students with a variety of Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs across the North of Hampshire. The school caters for a variety of complex SEMH needs, such as:

  • Uncooperative or disengaged behaviour
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Theft
  • Previous experience sexual or domestic abuse
  • Drug and alcohol addition

The role is as rewarding and exciting as it is demanding. No two days will be the same, and no young person we work with will leave this provision unchanged.

The candidate:


  • Full comprehensive knowledge and confidence in the entirety of Maths or ICT curriculum
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Experience working with children or adults with SEN, SEMH or challenging mainstream behaviour.
  • Very good knowledge of existing behaviour support programmes and services Experience of working with vulnerable young people/families

Qualifications and training

  • Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) - Maths or ICT
  • Team Teach
  • MAPA or SCIP training

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver small group lessons or 1:1 intervention for children and young people
  • To support pupils with their engagement in education
  • Managing the classrooms
  • Providing guidance to other professionals in the support and development of pupils.
