"the Times independent school of the year 2017"
An outstanding all through independent school in Borehamwood are looking for a maths teacher to join them from Easter on a permanent basis. This position has arisen through the second lead in maths retiring after 30 years in service to the school. Maths is one of the most popular subjects chosen at A Level so it is imperative applicants have strong subject knowledge and can teach through to KS5. A high percentage of students also go on to study further mathematics and exam results across all key stages are some of the best in the country.
The department actively encourages participation in recreational mathematics challenges and events such as Olympiads and all members of the department have access to an exceptional internal and external professional development scheme. This school is the sort of school you will stay at for a long time and the school invests time in their teachers to ensure they enjoy their career from the offset with them.
The school is also undergoing development across the prep school which is due to be completed in September. More often than not teachers in the senior school are invited to teach on occasion to assess the students levels of learning before entering the senior school and helping with the transition. the new building will host a range of new facilities and each sector of the school i.e. the pre-prep, prep and senior has an outdoor classroom to promote health and well being. Students once a week have a lesson outside and it may be for inspiration on creative writing by talking a observation walk around the grounds, drawing real life scenes or fraction work using different natural objects.
This school is a fantastic place to work and would suit a teacher looking for a new type of challenge. The students have no behavioural problems but they will stretch your knowledge as all students have a drive to succeed.
To apply for this role please send your CV and cover letter to Emma.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
