Job description

Teaching Personnel are working closely with various schools in Portsmouth to provide 1:1 a small group tuition to secondary school pupils. We are looking for Maths specialists to work with pupils ranging in ability from KS2-3 transition up to GCSE level. We work closely to provide tuition to students who may have had multiple excludees, medical needs, young offenders, refugees or to pupils who need additional boasts within the curriculum.

Ideally you will have experience teaching pupils this age or will be confident and outgoing, ready to persue a career in education. It will be a rewarding role, in which you will provide tuition to one pupil or a small group of pupils each week, providing curricular support and being a source of guidance for them. Ideally you will have had experience working with children with additional needs in either an education or other setting.

Your responsibility in this role will be to deliver the Maths curriculum to the pupil/pupils within a set period of time. You will be responsible for providing feedback to the pupil and in some cases will be asked to plan and prepare for the tuition, although this differs from role to role. In cases in which planning is required, you will be provided with schemes of work and current grades to ensure you are providing the best support possible.

  • Previous experience desirable
  • QTS desirable
  • Good knowledge of curriculum to GCSE level
