Have you recently graduated in Maths or Mathematics related subject? Are you considering a career as a Maths teacher but would like to gain more experience in a secondary school?

What is the Future Teachers Graduate Scheme?

Teaching Personnel have set up a Graduate Scheme to address the shortage of teachers across the UK and in particular in Greater Manchester. As part of our Future Teachers programme, the successful Graduate will spend the full academic year at one of our partner schools from September 2019. The scheme will involve spending the placement as a Teaching Assistant in the Maths department, gaining valuable classroom experience alongside other key responsibilities in preparation for a Teacher Training programme in the future.

What does the role of a Teaching Assistant involve?

• Delivering tailored teaching activities to pupils on either a one-to-one basis or in small groups
• Making sure that the pupils upported are able to engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity
• Supporting the social and emotional development of pupils, reporting any issues when required
• Supporting the teacher in managing challenging pupil behaviour and promoting positive behaviour
• Listening to pupils read and read to pupils as a class, group or one-to-one
• Guiding and monitoring pupil progress
• Delivering feedback to students in the form of marking and verbal feedback
• Covering lessons in the absence of the main class teacher

What is required as part of the Future Teachers Graduate scheme?

Prospective applicants should have obtained a degree in Mathematics or a related subject, and should be available full time across term dates from September 2019 to July 2020.
