Makaton trained Teaching Assistant - DH9

Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Makaton trained Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis supporting communication in a SEND School based in County Durham (DH9).

Ideally applicants would have a minimum of 3 months experience of supporting pupils with learning difficulties in a SEN school setting. Additional qualifications such as Team Teach and Moving & Handling is desired but not mandatory. We would also welcome applicants with relevant transferable skills such as Youth Workers or Support Workers as well as recent graduates.

Our ideal candidate will have:

-3 months experience supporting Speech, Language and Communication

-Recent Makaton training

-Experience of working with challenging behaviours and Team-Teach trained

-NCFE/CACHE Level 2/3 Supporting and Learning in Schools

-Patient and nurturing mannerism with a good understanding of de-escalation techniques
