Welfare Assistant

Teaching Personnel is currently looking to expand their team of Welfare Assistants to work within Primary Schools across the East Lancashire area including Blackburn, Accrington, Burnley, Nelson, Colne and Clitheroe. A school in Blackburn is looking for a welfare assistant, Monday - Friday (12.15pm - 1.50pm). This is due to start as soon as possible and will run on an ongoing basis. Please only apply if you have previous experience of working in a Primary School as a Welfare Assistant or Teaching Assistant. 

Overall duties include:

• Working hours will be Monday to Friday (five days a week), one-two hours a day, term-time only

• To undertake activities with either individuals or groups of children to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development

• To help children with personal cleanliness and clean-up “spoiled” areas as required

• To promote and reinforce the children’s self-esteem and encourage positive attitudes and social interaction

• To work with individual children as directed by the class teachers or other senior members of staff

• To monitor individual children’s needs and report this to the designated teacher as appropriate

The ideal candidate will have had previous experience of working in a Primary School and have at least 3 months experience working within a school or nursery.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
