A mixed secondary school in the Sale area require a Literacy co-ordinator to join them at the beginning of the new academic year. This open vacancy has come about as a result of the current Literacy co-ordinator having to reluctantly relocate and so the English department are looking for a replacement.

The role will be a full time teaching role with TLR as the Literacy Co-ordinator. As well as teaching English Language and Literature at KS3 and KS4, you will be involved with developing relevant schemes of work and leading on Literacy across the school. You will work with all departments on the subject of Literacy and continue to develop the strong foundations already in place to ensure that students' Literacy continues to be a positive and focal point of all learning.

In the school's latest Ofsted, Literacy was highlighted as one of the school's strong points with the right progress being made across the board.

Highlights of the Literacy Co-ordinator role:

  • Pay will be dependent upon prior experience and payscale with TLR
  • Applications accepted from candidates who have prior experience as a Literacy Co-ordinator and Literacy specialists who are looking for a new challenging role
  • Opportunity to teach in a reputable secondary school in the Sale area

The successful Literacy co-ordinator will be a part of the middle management team as well as the English department within their role. This will be a full time role on a supply basis in the first instance, with the successful candidate having the opportunity to progress onto a school based contract. The successful co-ordinator will lead on teacher training at the school, ensuring that all teachers are incorporating Literacy within their practice. School wide literacy plans and goals will be a focus within this role.

The secondary school is situated in the Sale area of the Trafford area, set in pleasant surroundings. The school is a medium sized school with a senior leadership team known for being supportive, approachable and keen on developing staff to be the best they can be. This school has fantastic facilities with a large secure on site car park for those teachers that drive. For those that don't, it is easily accessible via the local Metrolink and buses that travel nearby the school.
