Job description

The Governors at a mixed comprehensive Secondary school located in Bury, North Manchester, are looking to appoint one or more Learning support Mentors to work under the continued support of the Head of Inclusion (SENCO) and class teachers to work with pupils on Education Health and Care Plans.

  • Full time Learning Support Mentor required, October 2019 or earlier.
  • Must have previous experience working with hard to reach young people within an education capacity to be considered due to the sensitive nature of the role.
  • Opportunity to work within an Ofsted graded 'Good' Secondary school, easily accessible via the M66.
  • Earn up to £325+ per week, dependant upon previous experience.

There has recently been a refurbishment within the alternate support provisions in place at school which now boasts access to state of the art resources within modern facilities.

The responsibilities for the incoming Learning Support Mentor will include but may not be limited to;

  • Evidence of previous experience working to support the teaching and learning of young people within an education capacity, in order to raise attainment.
  • A genuine commitment and passion in supporting SEN pupils in meeting their learning needs, providing young people equal opportunities.
  • Be a positive role model for young people and demonstrate a constructive, caring and optimistic approach to learning.

The Secondary school currently serves just over 700 pupils aged 11-16, and is renowned within the local community. Bury is easily accessible via the M66 and the surrounding areas; Bolton, Preston and Rochdale. There is also an abundance of public transport options available with links across Greater Manchester.
