Year 6 Learning Support Assistant

We are currently working alongside one of our partner Primary schools located in Canton (Cardiff) to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to their Juniors department, to support a male pupil in Year 6 who displays challenging behaviour and is working below the standard of national curriculum.

The School :

Located about one mile from the centre of Cardiff, it serves a very diverse community with over fifty different spoken languages. The school is immensely proud of their community that works and learns together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance. They are determined to inspire all pupils through delivering a curriculum which is exciting, engaging, and provides high quality earning experiences both inside and outside the classroom which fosters a love of learning. The staff hold extremely high expectations of all the pupils and would like them to leave school as confident, polite and independent young people equipped with the appropriate skills and values to overcome the challenges of living and working in the 21st century becoming successful in whatever their eventual career paths will be. The Senior Leadership Team and all staff alike firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school and working together to form positive relationships with parents and carers is extremely important to ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners.

The Ideal Candidate :

• Will have previous experience working/volunteering with children (in a school, as a play worker, sports coach, care worker, etc.)
• Ideally have experience and/or knowledge of challenging behaviour with young children
• Have a patient, caring and resilient nature
• Must hold high expectations of learning and development
• Will support the pupil on an academic level as well as socially and emotionally
• Will manage expectations accordingly
• Will be available full time (Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 3:30pm) during term time
• Will be free to trial prior to the Christmas break

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
