Learning Support Assistant

We work with a huge variety of clients, including specialist schools for Autism, Mental Health and Profund and Multple Learning Difficulties.

The role of an SEN Learning Support Assistant will be:

• Managing behaviour in the classroom and minimising disruption
• Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of the curriculum
• Supporting with intervention and nurture groups where appropriate
• Helping to keep students safe, engaged and motivated with their academic work
• Supporting students with the development of positive social skills
• Assisting with personal care where appropriate
• Supporting children with impaired communication needs, sometimes using visual resources for Autistic students such as PECS and Now and Next boards

The most successful candidates are:

• Patient
• Nurturing
• Experienced either through employment or personally with SEN children
• Some experience either in a school seting or with children in some capacity e.g. playworker nursery nurse, carer, support worker
• Professional and able to communicate with a range of school staff
• Confident to manage challenging and disruptive behaviour
• Able to deal with the wellbeing and safeguarding of children at all times
• Versatile and able to adapt to a range of busy school environments

We support our clients with long term and permanent placements, in addition to short term supply contracts e.g. for sickness/paternity cover requirements.
