LSA – Full time (ASAP or September start)

This special school is for pupils aged 4 – 11 years with complex learning difficulties and challenging behaviour in Southampton. The school is situated on the edge of the city and has excellent facilities including large spacious classrooms, dedicated teaching areas, large multi-sensory rooms and hydro-therapy pool.

You need to be flexible, energetic, and ideally have experience of working with children with profound and complex disabilities and/or autism. This role could be suitable for a graduate with an interest in pursuing a career in teaching or learning support. Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children of special educational needs and more specifically, we are specifically looking for support staff with a particular specialism such as ASD, Speech and Language, SLD and other Learning Disabilities. Due to the nature of the students a patient, caring and compassionate approach is needed.

What you need to know about the school:

The school support young peoples to develop their emotional wellbeing and social skills. As a Learning Support assistant you will support the school to develop students to cope better with the things they find challenging whether this is during their school day or at home.  The successful Support assistant will help establish positive and healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing and developing social skills.  The school are currently on the lookout for an additional teaching assistant to work through us initially with the likelihood of a permanent contract after a specific amount of time. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is fancying a change in career or if you have a keen interest in special needs.

  • Working hours are 8:15 – 3:15

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
