Job Title: Learning Support Assistant - SEN School Location: Plymouth, United Kingdom Salary: £80 per day Start Date: September 2023

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our dynamic team at an SEN (Special Educational Needs) school in Plymouth. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to students with special educational needs, ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provide tailored support to students.
  • Support students in their learning, both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Assist in planning and delivering individual or small group interventions to address specific learning needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the social and emotional development of students.
  • Collaborate with parents/carers to ensure effective communication and maintain a strong partnership in supporting the students' progress.
  • Promote independence and encourage the development of essential life skills.
  • Provide assistance with personal care and medical needs, as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reports.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in working with students with special educational needs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of various special educational needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, and specific learning difficulties.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/carers, and external professionals.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the varying needs and challenges of students.
  • A strong commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within an educational setting.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant legislation and policies regarding special educational needs.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics is required.
  • Additional relevant qualifications or certifications in special educational needs, education, or child development are advantageous.

Working Conditions: This is a full-time position, working from September 2023 within term times only. The position is based in an SEN school in Plymouth, which provides a supportive and engaging environment for both staff and students.

Salary: The salary for this position is £80 per day.
