Are you looking for an exciting career, working with pupils who need extra support? Candiates from creative backgrounds such as dance, art, music and sport would be great for this position.

Teaching Personnel are looking for a Learning Support Assistant's to work in a small School in Waterlooville, Hampshire. The School is specialised in educating pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The pupils come from a variety of backgrounds and either have an Education Health Care Plan (ECHP) or are undergoing statutory assessment.

The students will have all been identified as having complex and additional needs and as such are better suited to 1:1 or 2:1 learning and will have an individualised curriculum based on their specific needs.

The school support young people to develop their emotional wellbeing and social skills. As a Learning Support Assistant you will support the school to develop students to cope better with the things they find challenging whether this is during their school day or at home. 

Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting assistants and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will help establish positive and healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing and developing social skills. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is fancying a change in career or if you have a keen interest in special needs.

We are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing the highest standards of care and facilitating opportunities for learning. Previous experience of looking after children would be an advantage however a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and support a child with SEMH needs and help them reach their potential in a professional and caring manner
  • Be reliable and punctual when working individually in the community or when part of a team and supporting colleagues to do their jobs
  • Actively plan and join in play and youth activities including swimming, ball games, music and more
  • Be prepared to communicate differently with a wide range of people
  • Keep records and write reports when required
  • Always ensure the highest level of safety and safeguarding

Experience is preferred but not necessary. If you have transferable skills then this could be the job for you.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
