Job description

Learning Support Assistant- South Manchester

Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our partner (Ofsted graded- GOOD) secondary school in the new academic year. This position has arisen due to re-structuring within the Inclusion Faculty, and represents an outstanding opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant to provide support to students who require help to overcome barriers to learning.

"Students with special educational needs are well provided for in lessons and within the inclusion unit. As a result of the specialist support they receive, these students make equally good progress to other students"- Ofsted

Specific job duties:

  • To act as a key Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to designated students.
  • To work with individual or small groups of students in various subject areas around the school.
  • To support designated students in a range of lessons in different curriculum areas.
  • To liaise with class teachers and other key personnel on school matters relating to designated students.

The school-

Our partner secondary school is larger than the average size secondary school with currently over 1,800 pupils on roll. Due to these vast numbers, the school has a much higher proportion of students who are known to be eligible for funding from the pupil premium and there are much higher proportions of students from minority ethnic backgrounds and who speak English as an additional language.

In terms of location, the school is situated on the border of Stockport and Didsbury. It is a short drive away from the M60 making it easily accessible from the areas of Wythenshawe, Cheadle Hulme and Reddish. There are also excellent public transports links (trams, trains and buses) that stop directly outside the school.
